| I have a 10th grader. I know for sports like soccer that kids go to ID camps. Is this a thing for runners? Distance - runs XC and track. Looking for this summer… but obviously need to be schools he’s interested in |
| My understanding is that there are some camps (Duke, Stanford etc), but your times really tell the story. A lot of the relationship forming /assessment also occurs via email correspondence with coaches. |

They really rely on times for track and place in XC meets (since courses are different).
I know Colorado State has a mountain camp at high elevation that is by invite |
| These are not quite as prevalent for track/XC as they are for other sports. Times definitely do a lot of the heavy lifting for track recruiting. |
As they should, it's quite objective |
| I know Duke and Princeton both have camps but I don't think there is a correlation between going to camp and being recruited like soccer. Recruiting is only time based. |

I’ve heard good things about this running camp
https://prrunandwalk.com/pages/capon-ridge My son is a distant runner, was a state champion (1:54 800m, 2:28 1000m, 4:19 1600m) and could run any D3 school time and some D1 school times, but he’s had a large SEC school Weather are Olympic athletes in very few distant spots and is doing club running. He never did a lot of these camps. He just ran off his own with teammates during the summer. He’s just a talented and committed runner. |

My distance runner likes the camp at Virginia Tech.

Can you get some info from the HS coach? He or she should be a good resource. My kid’s fcps XC team encourages kids to do a camp in early Aug.
My ds is a sprinter and I know of some ID camps hosted by colleges. Nike runs some too. He’s never attended, so no experience but the ID camps do seem to be a thing. |
