| It’s unbelievable how dumb people online are. I don’t know how people seriously believe there is a draft when joining the military now is so damn hard. The Air Force literally stopped recruiting through the rest of 2026 because they have too many people. You can’t pass MEPS unless you basically have perfect health. Very few waivers are given. There won’t be a draft |
| While unlikely, I would never say never with Trump. |
|
If DJT says “There won’t be a military draft” then there’s probably better than 50-50 odds it will happen later on his in term.
It’s always Opposite Day with this crew. That said, you’re right about the Air Force. My nephew was denied enlistment after doing a cyber program and instead is waiting for Army basic training. |
| Trump and Hegseth literally made it much harder to join the military in 2025. It was much easier to join under Biden |
| But is it correct that states used to monitor the rolls of potential draftees in the past and now it will be the federal government (Trump) and that they didn’t have that information before? |
The job market is terrible for young people so not really surprising |
|
Why is it a bad thing to raise physical fitness and combat trainability standards, and exclude people with gender dysphoria-related mental illness?
I fail to understand how doing any of those things hurts the effectiveness of our military or makes us any more vulnerable as a nation. Care to explain your reasoning? |
Federal government always has it. It was just "siloed". You know the IRS and SSA already exist, right? https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/04/10/us-military-draft-automatic-registration-impacts/89552441007/ |
What is with this misuse of the world literally by some/many younger people? I literally went to the store. Sue literally bought a new car. Tom literally called me. |
I mean, it’s kind of stupid and definitely super outdated thinking in 2026, it only serves to keep out otherwise qualified people. That’s OK, that kind of stupidity is to be expected of a Hegseth led military, but it’s way more silly when you take into account the fact that they are now taking people up to 42 years of age and people have questionable ethics and morals. This is not about fitness for combat it’s about implementing some childish version of what incompetent leaders view of what the military should be based upon their heroes like Vladimir Putin. I mean, sure, they will let in a bunch of child molesters and criminals as long as they can do 100 push-ups, but they’re going to exclude people that are actually capable of fighting a 21st-century war. Anyway, I was more responding to someone’s false assertion that it’s more difficult to get into the military. They only made it more difficult for qualified people. |
Are you over 100 years old? People having been using literally this way literally for decades. |
| There won't be as a result of Trump/Hegseth if that's where this is going. The clock is RAPIDLY running out on them. We're almost at the 2026 midterms when lame duckness firmly sets in. |
| OP I think it's humorous how authoritatively you are claiming this administration won't do something. Any claims Trump makes are meaningless as he has zero credibility and is incredibly impulsive. But one thing is certain, if this war with low public support turns into a ground war then there will be a draft to provide enough boots on the ground to invade Iran. |

Props to Hegseth for serving 18 years, but his military career didn't garner shining accolades. Couple of bronze star medals, 3 commendation medals, and a Combat Infantryman badge for engaging with enemies under fire. All are meritorious, not valor.
He wrote a book and said he watched his friends die. Those men sadly did die, but allegedly, Hegseth wasn’t there. He was sitting at a desk in some office when he got the news. Military observers and veterans noted that his role was predominantly desk duty— counterinsurgency instruction and staff roles rather than continuous front-line combat leadership. https://www.reddit.com/r/Military/comments/1jljfk2/whats_the_deal_with_pete_hegseth_am_i_the_only/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1 |
So that's why they bumped up the Army recruiting age? Because the Army has enough people? |
