Is school girls tourney a big deal?

Anyone with experience? DD nominated by coach to try out. Is this a money grab or should she feel honored her coach nominated her? Looks fun since all ages are together.

It's a great chance to play and an honor, but not a great venue to get recruited from so don't do it for that. Some colleges coaches are there so it's not nothing, but our experience is that they don't see it as a big recruiting event. There are probably better ways to spend $$ to get recruited since this would involve $$ to go to NY for a weekend.

It used to be a much bigger event, especially when it was aligned with the NCAA tournament. Now there are so many events, this one has lost its luster.

It helps the recruiting resume.

It's going to be different this year because it's not anywhere close to where they are playing the D1 NCAA Championship games (those are in Chicago). It was fun to have the School Girls Tournament and then go to the championship game the same weekend. My DD did it last year and had a great time. I don't know that it does much for recruiting, although it did expose her to some coaches and we got some good film. Other than that, it was just fun. If your DD is on a club team, I think that the summer tournaments, showcases, and prospect clinics provide better exposure.

Several coaches watched my daughter play last year and it was pretty intimate setup compared to summer tournaments.

I literally tripped over a coach on the sidelines.
