Dog pee

We had a foster dog that peed on our wool area rug and basement wall to wall carpet. Any recommendations for a company in MD ( Montgomery county) that does a good job cleaning this ? We already used the enzyme based cleaners. Thx!

It likely can't be cleaned adequately. Throw away the area rug. Pull up the carpet and padding. Use enzyme cleaner on the floor underneath. Replace with new carpet and pad.

I had a foster dog who peed like crazy in a guest bedroom and I didn't figure it out until the smell was really, really bad because I never went in there.

We had a professional carpet cleaner come out, and they cleaned it, and it was better, but only by about 50%. Which was no where near good enough. They told me I'd probably need to rip out the carpet and the subflooring or whatever it is called.

In a final attempt to deal with it in an easier way, I sprinkled it with a bunch of baking soda, opened the windows, and closed the door, and left it and then vacuumed it up the next day. After doing that about 3 or 4 times, the smell was gone. Baking soda is powerful stuff when it comes to odor removal. YMMV.

Send the wool rug out to be washed by Ayoub in Kensington or anywhere like that. The wall to wall carpet, imo, is toast if it was a lot. Otherwise, use an extractor, then dump a half gallon of nature's miracle over the area, then come back after 48 hours and use the extractor again.
