Spend $100 at the grocery store and 2 days later I’m out of food.

I can’t with the cost of food anymore. What am I doing wrong? $100 got me: 1 24 pack of water (I still have half the case), 2 artichokes, 4 tomatoes, box of spring salad, pound of chicken breast, 3 cans of sardines, rosemary bread loaf, small jar of garlic, jar of olives, 2 jarred zoups brand soups, 2 packs of premade lentil dal, 2 bell peppers. After 2 days of cooking I’m basically empty again. This fed 2 people.

You buy packaged expensive items. All these items you could either not buy or replace with base much cheaper and make at home.

1 24 pack of water (I still have half the case),

2 artichokes,

box of spring salad,

small jar of garlic,

jar of olives,

2 jarred zoups brand soups,

2 packs of premade lentil dal

Stop buying bottles of water. Expensive, unnecessary, and terrible for the environment.

Make your own dal (lentils are cheap!) and buy fresh garlic.

Stop buying water ! Who still buys water? Get a Brita or some other filter. It's 2026 FFS!

Buy cloves of garlic - not jarred
Buy bags of Lentils - not packages
Make your own soup
Buy lettuce - not packages

But you HAVE to know this. You can NOT honestly not know this.

+1
Or buy a huge thing of garlic at the ethnic grocery. I have getting all my seasonings there in bulk. They last a very long time (but not too long! You still want to use them up)

But people buying a "small" this or that or pre-made foods and then complaining about the cost are ridiculous. You need to plan, and eat through things. Does it get boring to eat the same thing a lot? Can be? But that's life.

Troll for sure.

What kind of idiot buys bottled water for anything but an emergency?

You need to re-think grocery runs. You can't shop for convenience anymore if you need to cut costs. Filter your own tap water you drink at home and save the water bottles for times you don't have access to clean safe water. Artichokes are freaking expensive. Why would you buy them if you are worried about grocery prices? Prewashed spring salad boxes are freaking expensive. Did you buy it at Whole Foods? Buy whatever lettuce is on sale at Target. Meats are ridiculously expensive. You gotta be strategic about where and when you buy meats. Zoups brand soups? Never heard of them. Start making your own soups. Make a big batch and freeze portions.

Don't eat so much

Why would you have expected that grocery store run to last more than maybe 3 days?

Other than cooking the chicken breasts, what cooking did this require?

I buy fresh peeled garlic in big packs at Costco or Sam’s, then chop fine with food processor and freeze in small amounts.

I agree food has gotten more expensive
You need to plan better though and stop wasting money on bottled water

Well food prices haven’t gone down, so it’s just expensive. Trump ran on a campaign to make things cheaper and it just hasn’t happened. Is America great yet?

Bottled water may be bad for the environment but it's not expensive. It's like $4 for a case.
