| DD is expressing interest in applying to Holton for high school. I am not in support of this (there are a LITANY of reasons for this but I don’t feel like getting into that list right now). One thing I pointed out is that at Holton, students are not permitted to have dyed hair. Mind you, DD’s hair is always dyed a fun color she just loves it. Green, pink, blue. While this gave her some pause, she also questions if this is true. It is, right? Just based on what I know about Holton, it seems like the guess is legit! Can someone confirm |
| There are many MS and US students that have dyed here in fun colors. LS students are not allowed to. |
Allowed in HS and MS. |
| Weirdly hostile post |
| LS teacher had dyed hair too. |
| Oh my god you sound like a truly insufferable parent. |
| Why would Holton not allow dyed hair? |
|
Girl in MS can’t have highlights?
This is an outrage! |
How old is your DD? The lower school dress code does not permit hair, highlights, or tinsel, but MS and US have no restrictions. The restrictions on jewelry and accessories (hair color included) are reduced as you go up the division. https://www.holton-arms.edu/student-life/uniforms |
This is correct. Same goes for nails. LS girls can't paint their nails (clear is OK), but MS girls can. Source: I have DDs in both and they taunt each other about who gets which privileges. |
So if you believe in “your body, your choice,” you need not apply. |
You’re really trying to equate abortion access with whether an 8 year old’s hair color should be part of a school dress code? |
Lots of schools (mostly Catholic that I know of) forgid hair that is dyed an unnatural color. Highlights are ok, but no pink, blue, etc. |

Dear OP,
Not sure where you think you got your info from but it's flat out wrong. There are always MS and US students (and faculty) with died hair. |
| Very weird post. Maybe aim for a weirder school. |
