| Remember when groups of people would play instruments and sing together? That stuff was amazing! What happened to the bands?? |
|
Is this one of these situations where a person gets old and thinks music stopped when the bands they grew up with are no longer around?
There are still lots of bands, dude. |
| There are still high school bands. |
| I'm confused by your question. I go see a band about once every 6 weeks. I prefer small venues with up and coming bands, but I've seen plenty of big names and cover bands too. |
| What happened is you got old. There are so many real problems but the "death of bands" is not one of them. You just stopped paying attention. |
|
Damn. I’m old.
In that case, can you recommend any good bands? |
| I see bands at least weekly. Mostly cover bands because the tickets are cheaper. |
|
I do believe there are a lot more solo artists these days, as well as musicians who are more fluid about who they collaborate with so they might be in multiple musical groups at one time while the other members are also floating around working with other musicians. Additionally, fewer musicians are putting out full albums and tend to release their singles as they are produced.
All of this is a result of advanced technology that allow musicians to produce and release their recordings from their homes rather than relying on a fancy recording studio and a producer. |

There were lots of bands in Nashville when I went there. They were playing all over the place.
I still know some people in their 50s and 60s who are in bands that’s play at places on the weekends. Bands still exist, in this area. Some people stopped because of life. DH, for example, no longer is in a band like he was in his 20s. Because he is in his 50s and working with kids and tired. But I don’t do the same hobbies I did back then either. Is this hard to understand? |
Whatever are you prattling on about. It’s almost like you think you made a witticism. |

To answer your other question, OP, where do you live? Let us know and we can recommend places to see live music for you. Or at least let us know where you are willing to go.
Many people I know travel into DC to see bands or go to the State Theater in Falls Church for fun cover bands. But we are old and live in Nova. There are other spots for more local groups too. |
We aren’t talking about school bands. |
Ok but how old are the performers or bands they are covering? Probably ly middle aged. |
| Go to Jammin Java |
Yup |
