What's going on with MEVC?

My DD tried out for MEVC 15s and she didn't get an offer. We know a few families playing for MEVC, but we don't see any of their teams at tournaments. Their 15s teams don't seem to be doing great according to their rankings. The website was not updated with the new rosters. We we feel lucky that the offer never came because that was one of our top choices.

Interestingly I have the same question couple of years ago when my DD tried out with them. She was left neglected on one of the court, was not evaluated properly. DD told me there were no coaches, just couple of teenagers running the tryout. DD tried out with other top team and got in. We never bother to try out with MEVC after that.

My DD plays for them now and we are going to various tournaments…? I love the club, FWIW- super organized and fair and friendly. Great players and coaches and families. I don’t want my daughter to play for another club after this experience!!

We are new to MEVC this year after DD played for another club last year. We also love the experience. OP, they don't update their website with rosters and pictures, but you can find their tournaments on AES. You can also search for their Instagram accounts. There's one for the whole club, and then most (if not all) of the individual teams have their own team Instagram accounts.

Another family new to MEVC this year and we’ve been happy. They do lots of tournaments — didn’t do the Easter weekend one which I was thankful for. My daughter likes the coaches and the team seems low drama which is great.

I don't think the OP needs help finding the team rankings. With ~4200 total 15s teams, both the National and the American teams are slightly below the average (both are around 2400-2500 range). I think that was the point. You would expect the top team at least to be slightly above the average... I also heard they didn't offer positions to many players who wanted to return.

The link was meant to show the list of tournaments participated in by MEVC, along with their rankings in those specific tournaments. It does not display their overall ranking in the national context or within the Chesapeake region.

I know MEVC uses social media a lot but it’s frustrating that the club never updates the website. It also has a bad habit of not even responding to all girls attending tryouts. Several of my DD’s friends joke that they still haven’t heard back. No complaints because they are all on top 20 CHRVA teams.

Where do you get your info from? I just checked the ranking within CHRVA: MEVC 15 National is at #69, and MEVC 15 American is at #75. Nationally, they are at 2559, and 2609 (slightly above the average).

You misread the post you replied to. PP said DD’s team was ghosted by MEVC after tryouts, but it all ended up fine as DD’s friends all made top 20 CHRVA teams anyway.
