I have had Astound for a long time (RCN then Star-something now Astound) but it seems to have gotten worse since Astound took it over. Lots of drop outs in my service, although that could be my equipment I guess?

Astound is only available in the denser areas (Silver Spring, Bethesda, Gaithersburg, DC), not all the suburbs:

Look at both uplink and downlink speeds. Cable TV systems have fine downlink speed to the house, but uplink (needed for VTC) speeds are generally lower.
