Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| I need ideas! |
| I usually just do an appetizer spread. Shrimp cocktail, cheese and crackers, fruit kabobs, veggies and dip, little hot apps, etc. Or you could go with mugs of chili (and all the fixins). That's nice this time of year and not too messy to eat standing up. |

Really, most buffet foods can be eaten standing up as long as it's not something you need to use a fork and knife with. You could do a crockpot of mini-meatballs, strombolis (I make these for parties a lot, with a variety of fillings, and slice them on platters - not messy at all), or just order sandwich platters. |

Focus on things that don't need a knife. I hate trying to balance a plate, a drink and have to cut something.
Cheese and crackers Rolls, deli meat and cheese Meatballs or small peices of meat Cut-up fruit Any type of appetizer, mini thing |
| An easy home-cooked entree for this kind of event is a crustless quiche. I make it in a large serving dish - or make 2 large dishes, depending on the size of the party. Its very easy to eat with just a fork, is inexpensive, and it is good hot, warm, or room temp - so that makes it easier to manage on the buffet. Works very well with a green salad and some crusty bread. |
