Good morning everyone! ☀️ With the lottery now active, I wanted to reach out and see if there are any CURRENT parents at: • Legends Public Charter (waitlist #33) • Thomas G. Pullen (Creative & Performing Arts) (waitlist #33) • Phyllis E. Williams (Spanish Immersion) (waitlist #6) • Dodge Park (is her zoned school) These are my personal top 3 (in order of preference) out of the 9 schools I applied to for my daughter. I’ve done an open house at Legends (which I loved) I’ve heard some folks say when they first opened they were unorganized and high turnover but from the open house they “seem” to have a better system going, but I’m having a hard time finding honest, real parent experiences for any of them online. Even Niche.com has pretty limited reviews. My daughter will be starting Kindergarten this fall (she’s currently at Heaven sent early learning center private school), so I just want to make the most informed decision possible. If you have a child currently attending or recently attended any of these schools, I would really appreciate your insight on: • Academics • Teacher support & communication • Behavior/discipline approach • Overall school culture • Pros & cons (no sugarcoating😅) Thank you so much in advance |

Look at the great school ratings. These are all VERY different schools.
- Pullen is a great school. They are a creative and performing arts school. They test high in academics. There is not a big sped population. Majority African American students. Getting into the school may or may not be possible with that number on the waitlist. - legends is horrific. I have had multiple people work there and have children there that pulled them out. It is not well run. - Williams is a Spanish immersion school. They do very well with academics. I know they are pulling some immersion schools but I don’t think that school was one of them. Number 6 is very promising on the list. - dodge park is horrific. I would not send my children there. I would literally move. I am a teacher and a parent of PGCPS. The county is in open student transfer season. I advise you to look at the list for openings of kindergarten students and sign your child up but first look at great school ratings to get a basic idea of the school. |

If Gladys Noon Spellman is an option for admin transfer, I would highly recommend applying. It is fairly close to Dodge Park so transportation should be easier than other schools.
