They are all on the skinny side, and most of them are tall over 5' at their age. Is that because they are skinny or is that because they are doing dance or gynmastic slow down the coming of puberty? I see some girls of certain races tend to develop earlier, and I also wonder if it is the gene.
Is there any sports or diets may prevent girls from going into puberty early? My puberty came early and I had menstrual period early at 5th grade. That was really annoying.
For some girls with high activity levels (Olympic hopefuls, ballet school with 6+ hours a day of dance), athletics can delay it. Girls who don't eat enough might delay menstruation (doesn't matter if it's an eating disorder or environmental). There are genetic and environmental factors that can delay or hurry development. But overall? Normal range for menarche is 10-15, and breast development starts 2-3 years earlier, so 7-13 is normal. Height growth typically stops within 2 years of menarche, so 12-17 is typical for height increase stopping.
