No one has time for that freakishness. This is the weirdest hobby |
| I googled Hilaria Baldwin Dolezal and this thread was like the first thing to come up. Also checked Twitter and found maybe two tweets stating that she’s not from Spain and her accent is fake. I am really curious why no one has made more of this, and I really hope Reddit poster starts a thread there. |
\ Covid hobby. Everyone has them. But what started out as a time suck turned into something that has revealed someone hurting people, doing something wrong, and making money off of it. Also, it's intriguing and crazy and all the other words people have used that anyone would fake an accent and identity for a realllly long time. |
Going on an on about being mistaken for the nanny because your children are fair and blue-eyed comes off as very racial. Hilary's mom has blue eyes. Also using your skin tone to show your kids that you are "darker" when really you are just plain old white with dyed black hair comes off as pretty racial. |

Most of what is already on Reddit is reprints of various articles from ET and the like. This is part of one post on Reddit from 'SpocknChristine' that is written as a bio:
"Hilaria Lynn Thomas aka Hilaria Baldwin was born on 6th January 1984 in Mallorca, Spain. She was born to an American father and Spanish mother whose identity isn’t known. Baldwin spent the early days of her life in Spain and later moved to Boston, Massachusetts with her family. When she was just two years old, her parents admitted her to dance school. At the age of five, she became a vegetarian by her choice. As a child, she had an interest in ballet, flamenco, and gymnastics. By the age of 13, she was already an accomplished dancer and took part in the International Latin Ballroom Dance Competition. As for her alma maters, Hilaria Baldwin graduated with a degree in art history and dance from New York University. Hilaria Baldwin started her career as a professional dancer. However, she had to give up her career as a dancer as she suffered from a broken leg and hip after a bad fall. She had also struggled with anorexia and bulimia which affected her name while working as a professional dancer. At that time she was attending New York University. She explained: ‘A long-simmering struggle with anorexia and bulimia began to hold me firmly in its grip, By the time I was 20 years old, my 5 foot 3 frame was at least 20 lbs under a healthy weight. My nails were brittle, my hair was falling out, my period was MIA, and my energy had tanked. I was miserable and desperate to feel better.” Subsequently, she took yoga classes and pursued her career as a yoga instructor. In 2010, she co-founded Yoga Vida, a yoga studio. The studio offers yoga classes at a reasonable price. Yoga Vida was first established in Union Square and Noho in New York. The venture has now been expanded in Tribeca and Dumbo as well. The fitness and yoga expert has also launched a work out DVD titled ‘@ Home with Hilaria Baldwin: Fit Mommy-to-BE Prenatal Yoga’. Besides working as a yoga instructor and dancer, Hailie (sic) Baldwin has also tried her hands in acting. In 2016, she shared the screen with her husband Alice (sic) in the movie Nightcap. Baldwin also appeared on the TV show ‘Extra’ – a program covering the fashion and fitness news. Further, Hailie (sic) Baldwin is an author too. She has penned a book titled ‘The Living Clearly Method: 5 Principles for a Fit Body, Healthy Mind and Joyful Life.’ The book was launched on December 27, 2016. The book is all about the ways to maintain a balance between mind and body and living a healthy life. In the book, she has discussed her struggle as a dancer with anorexia and bulimia and how she found peace with both food and her body. Despite her prominence fame as a yoga guru, it’s her relationship with Alec Baldwin that has made her everyone’s favorite in the industry. Hilaria Baldwin was grown up in a bilingual culture as her mother was Spanish and her father was an American. So, she makes sure that her children also learn both cultures." There haven't been any replies to that article. |
| In 2010 she was interviewed in the New York Times and told the reporter that she met Alec when she winked at him in a restaurant. She also told the reporter that, “I could go back to teaching the yoga and not doing the TV for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy”. Yes, she said "the yoga' and "the tv". He also reported that, "Her voice betrays a slight Spanish accent, remains of a childhood split between Boston and Spain." |

The only sites that talk about this fake Spanish persona are this one, Lipstick Alley and The Datalounge. The Datalounge has only 3 shortish threads.

I’d bet she never actually graduated from NYU.
|
It looks like she was a dance major (then again, everything online appears to be wrong!), so it's not like she was studying chemical engineering or anything. I'm sure she graduated just fine. |
| I think she was adopted. |
She looks EXACTLY LIKE her adopted father then! She was not adopted. |
Sounds like it. From the reddit link posted above: "She was born to an American father and Spanish mother whose identity isn’t known. " |
| How would it hurt anyone even if she did have a fake accent? Like, it would hurt your feelings? |
| Ok, people. I think the adopted poster was joking. Hilaria has clearly invented herself but the thread is also a bit nutty. I laughed anyway. |
I think she's Vicki the Robot from It's a Small Wonder, just all grown up now. |
