flying with a dog

How can you fly commercial with a dog that is not a certified service one?

DP. I'm also interested in this question. Our dog won't fit under the seat in front of us. But can I buy her a seat and she flies in a carrier on the seat?

I don’t think you can buy a seat for a non service dog

Do not send the dog in with luggage. Nightmare for the dog and many do not survive- or they get lost by escaping and running loose at landing or before.

We brought a dog that way from the UK to here, and while he did ok, he was traumatized. Friends of our's dog didn't make it.

You can hire a pet transit service that just flies dogs - but that would be if you are moving, not a trip. $$$$$

There is a Facebook group called “flying with dogs” that can walk you through picking an airline, selecting a crate, getting the proper documentation, and tell you what to expect when you bring the dog to the airport and deliver them to the cargo drop off.

If the dog isn’t a service dog, or under 20 lbs and shorter than about 10” (varies slightly based on airline), they aren’t going in cabin.

I don't think this is true.

I think if it were true, it would be a bigger story.

Since there's no story, I think you are making that up.

Sure there are accidents and exceptions but I don't think you can truthfully characterize that as "many".
