Diarrhea....where do I begin finding the cause? TMI

Anonymous
I feel like it could be so many things, food allergies, IBS, parasites, etc. I get it on and off, had it everyday for over a week, its getting old. Maybe its just lose stool? I only go once a day....its not like when I have a virus I go all day. I feel like the doctor won't know where to begin.....
Thanks for any input....sorry so gross.

Start with a blood test for Celiac Disease.

Could be 1. yeast/fungus 2. bacterial 3. parasitic

those are the easiest to address. Beyond that, you may have deficiencies that need to be tested for. Have you done any cleanses lately?

Go to a GI doctor....

Where could I get a cleanse? To do a yeast cleanse don't I have to go off sugar........

I'm going through a similar situation, similar symptoms. I would definitely recommend going to a doctor. Change in bowel habits can be caused by a number of things, some serious. My doc referred me to a gastroenterologist (sp?) for a colonoscopy. I also had blood work and, for lack of a better phrase, "poop lab work" done. Results were "clean" so I have to go back for a follow-up in a few weeks.

It could be a bunch of things, but it could be something serious, and the sooner you know, the sooner you can either be relieved (if it's nothing) or you can start treating whatever you might have.

When I was in my pre-colonoscopy-freak-out, reading everything I could find on colon cancer (which I was convinced I had), I saw over and over again how important it was to address these things early. It makes a huge difference when it comes to treatment. I'm not saying you have that, and I'm not trying to scare you. I know it can be embarrassing, but I would make an appointment today.

I don't think I really need to see a GI.....I'm 27 and have good health. Maybe I'll start with the regular MD.

If you can't get to your regular MD soon, I'd try some probiotics. Can't hurt, and it may help regulate things if there's nothing going on that needs more treatment. It also won't cover up anything that's truly wrong (like taking immodium would).

Go to your local HFS and ask them about these cleanses. They can guide you to a good, natural product.

My good friend has bowel issues and her boyfriend, a dr., recommended she try a gluten free diet. He also recommended a doctor, but in the interim suggested that might be a good initial step - seems like he thought it sounded like could be celiac disease.

Could it be stress?

Sounds like a parasite I had - it started off that way, but after a few weeks got so bad that I was in the bathroom several times an hour, for 24 hours, and got so dehydrated that I almost passed out. I'd start with your internist.

A gluten free diet as an initial step? That is a very restrictive diet and should be reserved for those with a diagnosed gluten sensitivity. Also, if she does have celiac and goes gluten free before testing the celiac testing will not be accurate.
