Help me find a replacement for storage drawers?

Anonymous
I have these drawers in four different colors (total of four drawers, not four sets of drawers): https://www.containerstore.com/s/featured/the-college-shop/storage-and-organization/tint-stackable-storage-drawer/123d?productId=11019632

I've had them for about 25 years, and what with not having a desk they house all my stationery, office supplies, greeting cards, paperwork and random crap. All things I need to keep, and use. But I'd like to level up to something a bit less colorful but still the same amount of closed storage. White would be the color I want. I looked at Ikea and Wayfair but didn't see anything that looked right. I take great care of my things, so under $250 would be great because it won't get banged around. Just something less cheap-looking, like wood?

Any suggestions?

What about a file cabinet? I have a grad student type of desk: a big butcher board table top that I’ve alternately rested on a base made of two two-drawer file cabinets or two bookshelves that are about the same size and height as the file cabinets. So, what about two white two drawer file cabinets?

These are not the ones I had, but staples has some for just $100 each, so two of them would fit your budget.

I don't want metal, and don't need to file documents upright.

I am the Wayfair poster ^^. Where do you want to put this cabinet? Do you have any size restrictions? How many drawers?

Why not just buy a dresser?

I have all my stationery/office supplies in an Ikea Skruvby cabinet. Mine is in the dark blue but it comes in white as well. Not drawers but you could always use bins inside if needed. Most of my stuff is stacked inside but I do have a pencil holder, and some small organizer containers for smaller bits.

Skruvby PP again. I know you said you looked at Ikea but it has so many drawer units (160?), it might be worth another look? Something like these seem similar to what you have but in furniture? These are gray (and the tall one is over budget) but just gives an idea.

A small dresser.

On the one hand, wood furniture is a great thing to get antique or vintage. On the other hand, you need two hands to open old drawers. Having modern, soft close runners is really nice.

Nah, the drawers aren't deep enough. I think that was the first thing I looked at. The drawers just aren't practical for my needs.
