Transfering embryos from CNY to local clinic advice

Anonymous
I have embryos at CNY and want to move them to a local IVF clinic and do an FET nearby. Am considering Shady Grove and CCRM but open to other suggestions. They are PGT tested normal. Both want you to do a consult first before they tell you if they will take them. Assuming they want them PGT normal, but not sure if some have issue with CNY or not.

Any experience or recs with doctors to choose from the Rockville practices, other clinics close by, and experience transferring embryos from another clinic.

Thanks!

I’ve always heard that it’s better to go to your embryos than to bring them to you. See about monitoring visits at SGF then just travel for the transfer is my suggestion. I had to travel for my transfer and totally understand the inconvenience. For a sibling it would be significantly harder than for your first. Still id be very cautious about moving them. GL!

I’d see if moving to SGF is possible in this scenario. They do such a high volume and probably have the most experience with your situation. Congrats on your first little one and good luck on the next!

OP here- I spoke to someone else at SGF and it seems like they only accept embryos after a review process (embryology reports, protocol review) that is $800- so you pay $800 and there isnt even a guarantee that they will accept them. So... not doing that!

Oh wow! I understand them reviewing, but that’s a steep price. I bet CCRM is more though. I heard that their billing is a total nightmare.

You know, when I traveled for my transfer I was able to plan in advance. I had the initial lining check ultrasound w my OB at home then was away for a week total. This gave me a few days before and after transfer to be flexible and I knew my travel and away days. There were women who had toddlers who did similar. We were all at a clinic where everyone travels. So, it’s possible! If you find a nice solution to bring them to DC though, do share!

Not local to you, but in my experience clinics are totally uninterested in accepting embryos for FETs from another clinic because its not enough $$$$$ for them and they probably assume you are a high maintenance annoying patient (i.e. why are you firing current clinic?). I have been flat-out declined.

I think my solution is going to be to wait until CNY opens their Norfolk location and then move them there. At least its a shorter drive!

omg don't move embryos for a shorter drive

Sometimes the move is botched and the embryos are ruined

Do satellite monitoring at a local clinic and drive to your embryos for the FET
