Recommend a good hotel in Ft. Lauderdale with elementary age kids

We will be in Ft. Lauderdale in August for two days, before our Disney cruise. Would like a hotel that is kid friendly, walkable would be ideal. TIA

I suggest staying on the beach in Fort Lauderdale so you can walk to shops and Restaurants.

Hilton Bahia Mar is closest to the port and is walkable not only to the beachfront strip of shops and restaurants but also next to the marina village with decent food options.

If you walk north on the strip, there are tons of hotel options, including the Maren (also a Hilton) and the W, Westin, Hilton Beach Club, Conrad, Ritz, etc.

The nicer/pricier resorts are further north—probably a 30 min walk from the Bahia Mar.

The CVS is sorta in the middle of the strip. You might want to be walkable to cvs in case you want to buy sunblock, bottled water, etc.

Traffic to the port can be heavy depending on the number of ships in port. Plan accordingly.

The Omni is brand new and beautiful and pretty much perfect for people going on a cruise because it's so close to the cruise terminal and with a free shuttle. Not as walkable as some others but the water taxi stops right there to take you places.

Recommend looking around Fort Lauderdale-by-the-sea. Easy to uber there from airport and it’s very walkable, with a nice beach.
