Recs for 16 yo in Nashville

Anonymous
My 16 yo DS and I are headed to Nashville in a couple weeks.

Looking for recs on fun things to do. It is our first time in the city.

Also looking for a good place to listen to music that will allow a 16 yo.

We are all set on dinners.

Thanks!

We were there a few months ago with a 13 and 15 yo and there were plenty of bars/restaurants on Broadway that will let kids in, at least during the day. Not all, but some of the smaller ones you can just duck in and listen to music.

Mine liked the Musicians Hall of Fame--very interactive. But definitely more interesting if they are into music. Mine love rock and roll but not country so we didn't make it to the Country Music Hall of Fame but if we had more time, I would have gone there. And seen a show at the Grand Ole Opry. At that age, probably worth checking out some colleges, at least Vanderbilt.

Nashville is a cool city--I really liked it. More than I thought I would.

Our kids are a bit younger, but they loved doing a Donut Tour, making their own Goo Goo Clusters, and The Listening Room (dinner and singer/songwriters). They also enjoyed walking around and just enjoying the scene.

I would not do a "family" vacation there. Have you researched the crime and drug scene even a little?

Yikes.

Omg it's fine. We took our littles on the Hop On Hop Off Bus. It goes near the fake Parthenon which is awesome because unlike the real one it has a giant Athena statue inside. It also goes near the entrance of Vanderbilt. Which is hot for apps these days.

We went with our 15 year old son last year and found some options along the strip especially during the day and at dinner. Legendary milkshake bar was also a big hit. We did a food tour as well. We also rented a car so we took an afternoon in Franklin.

My son who is really into music hated Nashville.

If he is interested in cars, he (and you) might like the Lane Motor Museum. https://www.lanemotormuseum.org/

Go to the Listening Room - kids are allowed at the tables and they have lunch concerts.

+1. I was there a couple of months ago for the first time in about 10 years. Could not believe how far it has fallen. It's the new Myrtle Beach, complete with drunk bachelorettes on every corner.

We really enjoyed doing a trolley tour at night. Got to see all the lights and drive by a bunch of cool places. The driver and guide were singing along - it was really fun.
