| Which councilmembers voted to allow the smoke shop to open next to Basis? Which voted against? Thanks. |
|
Isn't that something the mayor controls via ABCA? Why would the council be voting on something like that.
I suppose if you don't like what the mayor is doing, that reflects poorly on her wink wink nod nod to McDuffie as someone who would do similar. |
Pinto voted against allowing the smoke shop. All others council members allowed it. |
| Who cares? If your kid's gonna smoke they're gonna smoke. If not they're not. |
This is incorrect. |
OP here. It's not that. Many councilmembers are running for other offices. I want to vote my values. |
In March 2024 council members Pinto and Allen sponsored emergency legistlation to prevent DC Smoke from opening right across the street from basis and within 300 ft of the school. The emergency legistlation obviously did not pass. I'm not sure if it ever got put to a vote. |
| Look it up. The info is there. If you’re presumably wealthy enough to send a kid to Basis, you should be smart enough to figure out legislative tracking of a bill. |

There's no actual income or education requirement to attend any public or charter school in DC.
