Recent Rome and Florence boutique hotel or similar

| We've been to both many times but the hotels are pricing at about $900 per night (the W in Florence or $700 for a Marriott in Rome, for example). We don't need to be near any touristy sites but do want walkable to good food options certainly and some shopping would be nice. So looking here for recommendations of recent stays closer to $500 per night. thanks |

We stayed here in Trastevere (Rome) a couple of years ago. Lovely hotel and great location for walking and food.

We stayed at the Hotel Indigo in Florence - very walkable to everything and signficantly less than $500/night.
It's an IHG property if you have any points/status there. |
