S/O competitive clubs

Didn’t want to hijack the engineering-specific thread, but am curious about other competitive clubs as well.

The only competitive club my freshman CS major auditioned for and subsequently joined was an a cappella group! She didn’t apply to any pre-professional clubs, and instead is RA-ing at an AI research lab with a fully funded fellowship lined up for this summer. Are competitive clubs something she should still consider if she is not yet sure whether she’ll go into academia or industry in the future?

Ugh, the competitive club culture is the worst. I don't think it matters a whit.
