This is for families who live somewhere where both parents need to drive daily or most days and both parents transport kids.
Assuming one spouse has the larger “default” car, what does the second spouse drive? Bonus points if you are also a tall family. Thanks. |
| Primary car, Lexus RX. Secondary car, Subaru Forester. Both have similar passenger space but the Lexus is more comfortable for long trips and has more cargo room for sports gear, etc. |
OP here. Have actually considered both of those! Our other car is a minivan (at least for the next few years.) |
| We have a minivan (primary kid car) and a Honda pickup truck. Couldn’t do a big pick up truck because couldn’t fit it in garage parking in DC. But like the convince of having a pick up for outdoor gardening, hauling crap, etc. |
| Toyota minivan and Camry. |
| Minivan and a bmw i4 - but don’t think the i4 would be great for kids in car seats. |
PP again: My husband is 6’2” and loves the RX. I’m average height and prefer the Forester bc of the generous sight lines. I would say the latter is less of a tall person’s car but my husband has no issues driving it. But by “tall” you may mean taller than 6’2”! |
| Chevy Suburban and VW Jetta wagon. Both are getting old but in great shape. It’s good having one big AWD and one compact city car. For our next vehicles DH’s will be a little smaller and mine will be an EV. |

An absolutely ancient Blazer and a Forrester.
Soon we are retiring the Blazer and getting a new car. No idea what though, so following here. It won't be another suv. |

Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Malibu
So a large-ish compact SUV and roomy sedan. We use the sedan on roadtrips. It has great rear legroom and trunk space. |
| minivan and honda crv |
| Honda Pilot and a Forester |
| Minivan is our main vehicle. I drive it daily to work. Husband works from home but he has a vehicle which is a Honda accord. I could not live without my minivan. My husband likes it to haul stuff but other than that, he likes the car. |

Second car is an EV (Ioniq). Great for city trips and backseat is roomy. It’s our primary car. (We don’t drive to work so this is just for driving kids around).
Other car is a (gas) CRV which we use for road trips. |
| We both have large, luxury SUVs. |
