APS Social Studies Curriculum for 6th Grade

Anonymous
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has the social studies curriculum for APS 6th grade? I've tried to find it online but can't find anything specific - I'd like to know what topics they cover and esp any texts that accompany it? I found this but it is a decade old and I know there have been changes - something like this that is current would be amazing - https://www.apsva.us/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/GRADE-6-Complete.pdf

Check the va state department if we website for the state SOLs. That is the curriculum for all grades, all subjects. This is what I am told every time I’ve asked what my kids will learn in any given grade.

Yes, and the VDOE just adopted new social studies standards. They tend to be rolled out/up one grade at a time so it should have a date of implementation on there.

6th grade— American history— they start with European exploration of the Americas, study native Americans, revolutionary war, civil war, westward expansion, etc. I’m not sure how far they get, but I think mid-20th century.
7th— civics & economics
8th— world geography (for high school credit)
