Hi Jeff, I started a thread in the political forum yesterday asking why so few Democrats and mainstream media sources are actively criticizing Trump on the Iran war, which is arguably his biggest blunder of all time.
The thread received some interesting responses and alternative media sources, including discussion of AIPAC and the strong Israel lobby in the USA. But this morning I see the thread has been locked. May I respectfully ask why? I went to bed and so did not see how the thread continued to evolve, but I can see from a reply to what appears to be a deleted comment that the pro-Israel faction got in there and probably made your life miserable. If that’s the case, then I think it’s incredibly sad and disturbing. Not only has Israel and its lobby forced us to fight an irresponsible war on their behalf, not only have they bought our politicians on both sides and silenced our mainstream media, but they also shut down smaller scale unfavorable discussion, even here. It is incredibly effective, and the silence is deafening. It can certainly be said that this discussion is found in other threads, but it was interesting to have it in one single dedicated thread. Since you don’t lock many threads, and since you don’t often give in to pressure, I would appreciate any insights. Isn’t this discussion important? And wouldn’t it just be easier to block the rabid pro-Israel posters as you do with the crazy MAGAs? Thank you. |

I didn't lock the thread when it was first created because I agree with you that it is an important topic. However, it eventually became duplicative of the other Iran war threads which is why it was subsequently locked.

Thank you. I thought perhaps the pro Israel faction became too vociferous. I have noticed that they like to take over threads criticizing Israel and/or the war. I find the larger Iran thread is too large at this point to discuss individual nuances. |
Wow. You are just incredibly arrogant. Any discussion of the Iran war is absolutely monopolized by people - probably you - trotting out specious claims and/or unverified sources (or no sources at all) and ranting about "zionists." You don't have to be "pro-Israel" to recognize who it is trying to shut down discussion on this forum. For just one example, on the thread about the NYC Islamic terrorist bombing attempt, the usual suspects are trying exceptionally hard to change the topic to white supremacism - when the fact is, the only people who were violent that day were the ISIS-aligned terrorists. There is already a thread about the war in Iran, as well as multiple other threads discussing various specifics. You don't have to start a new thread every time some new "anti-zionist" thought pops into your head.

Oh, so sorry - the entire community didn’t realize you had deputized yourself to override the Constitution and dictate your interpretation of what is and what isn’t acceptable free speech. Thank goodness you’re here to shout down those nettlesome posters who won’t pull punches, who reject genocidal war crimes, who reject the theft of land belonging to indigenous people, and who reject the cultural normalization of child molestation and violent sexual assault of detainees in custody. <I wasn’t paying attention; when did we become the United States of Israel?> |
What? I'm not the OP, who very much "deputized herself" to plead with Jeff to ban anyone who is too "pro-Israel" for her tastes. Or maybe you're the OP. Either way, you seem to have zero self-awareness. You can say whatever you want - and so can I and anyone else for that matter. You don't get to ban people you disagree with. However, I will absolutely report posts that call Jewish people vile names and perpetuate stereotypical tropes. I'm sorry, I know that must disappoint you as you no doubt are one of the worst offenders here. |
Tropes? Oh really? You mean like the endless ethnocentric trough of Anti-Arab, Anti-Muslim, Anti-Catholic tropes that radical, extremist Zionists and nearly all Israelis feast on like an endless buffet of discrimination? Like those kinds of tropes? (Im not going to reply to anything further in this area since it’s intended for feedback, but don’t confuse my silence as agreement). |
