Do you tell people you take Rogaine for hair loss?

If someone tells you your hair looks nice, do you immediately say "Thanks, it's the minoxidil, I use the 5% for men and I also take finasteride to help control DHT. In addition, I use a laser cap and take biotin supplements." or do you just take the compliment and move on to the next topic?

I see what you are doing here and yes if a friend struggling with with hair loss ask what I did to grow my hair I would absolutely tell them I was on medication to help my hair grow? Vs saying " just a lot of shampoo".

If a random person at the gym commented I would just say thank you and move on,

I would never think I get a compliment on the fullness of my hair but on my hairstyle or color instead. So yes, if it comes up I tell them the hair products that work for me (All the Redken line) and a referral to my hairstylist if they want as well.

My husband uses Minoxidil but I don't think he tells anyone unless it comes up on the conversation...nothing to be ashamed about.

By the way, Minoxidil and biotin helped him so much and not long term... What really helped for him was a trip to Turkey!

The thing is, it's not usually someone with hair loss asking because they want to grow their hair back, too, it's just someone who wants to know why you look different. Would this change your answer?

In that case, how common would it be for someone to notice that he has a full head of hair now and specifically ask him "Did you get a hair transplant?"

DP but what if these products were constantly advertised and discussed in the media to the point that everyone assumes that anyone with improved hair loss was taking them? Would it be necessary to share this information with the friend?

Depends on who it is.

Normally the people that notice are people we know, of course. If a friend/acquaintance asks, he has no problems sharing the "hair miracle", however, if it's a stranger... well strangers don't really ask...

I don’t pay attention to anyone’s hair. Maybe I am shallow.

I just posted on the other thread and DID take rogaine for years since my hair is thin and fine. It didn’t work well and I stopped.

I talk, a lot and yes, am just as chatty about that as about the shot. If someone says my hair looks great, I WILL tell them what I’m using or what I did that morning. If it’s a random coworker I don’t actually care to talk to, I will just say “thanks!” I actually do treat this the exact same way.

I think the difference is that nobody is judging a person for wanting to regrow their hair using medication, but they are very much judging people for "not putting in the hard work" to lose weight without medication.

I'm sure most people using rogaine/minoxidil/hair transplants had a friend say "but you should just sleep more, have less stress, and stop getting sick, then your hair will grow back!" whereas almost everyone on a GLP-1 has heard "why aren't you eating better and exercising more" at some point in their life.
