Saw that the April 2 meeting of the Comprehensive Development and Planning Committee ("CDPC") has been cancelled.
This is the committee that they gave to Kyle McDaniel to lead, after they'd kicked him off as Budget Committee chair after he'd been sued for embezzling from his business partners. His main action as CDPC Chair was to push his colleagues to eliminate the Facilities Planning and Advisory Committee ("FPAC"), which had been composed of community residents who freely gave their time and expertise to FCPS to share ideas on facilities and how FCPS might more efficiently and expeditiously renovate its many aging buildings. His argument was that FPAC could be folded into the CDPC, which planned to add three community members (whereas FPAC was a larger committee with representation from every magisterial district). Low-brow bumblers like Robyn Lady supported FPAC's elimination, saying she'd never read anything FPAC prepared. Apparently it never crossed Lady's mind that she ought to make sure she was getting FPAC's reports to read rather than just vote to disband an advisory committee. Many believed the School Board just wanted to kill off FPAC for fear it might criticize FCPS's recent hash of a county-wide boundary study. So what does McDaniel then do? Cancel meeting after meeting of the CDPC. It's no surprise FCPS facilities planning remains so atrocious. There is no oversight, and the people in the Facilities group feel like they have next to no direction from the School Board. |
| It was rescheduled due to it occurring during spring break. |
LOL. They have repeatedly cancelled CDPC meetings so scheduling one during spring break was a good pretext for cancelling yet another one. It’s not like the SY calendar wasn’t available when they were creating a schedule. |
| The cancellation was discussed during the March 5 meeting and it’s on YouTube for anyone who wants to see it. Dunne asked for the cancellation and McDaniel agreed because of spring break. This is not the own that OP thinks it is. |
Feel free to go back and look at Board Docs and count the number of times CDPC meetings have been cancelled. It’s been such a do-nothing committee. |
| I assume OP was kicked off of a committee and is resentful. Can anyone figure out who s/he is? |
| No one got kicked off of FPAC. The entire committee of volunteer local experts who freely gave their time is being disbanded because McDaniel and his cronies claimed the CDPC could do their work, yet that committee rarely meets and regularly cancels meetings. Just another example of a self-inflicted wound by FCPS., |
Haha yep. |
| How is McDaniel’s embezzlement case going? Was it settled out of court? He got quietly moved off the budget committee when the lawsuit was filed. |
| Volunteers on committees are all convinced they have way more power and it goes to their heads. Whether it’s FPAC or an hoa. People need new hobbies. |
FCPS needs all the advice it can get when it comes to planning and development. It sure won’t get sound advice from Kyle McDaniel. |
Wrong. FPAC was gotten rid of and replaced with 5 experts directly on to cpdc. |
Doesn’t matter since the committee is chaired by a lightweight and hardly ever meets. |

Cannot both things be true here?
It was "simply" rescheduled because it was set to be on spring break. But also, isn't it REALLY DUMB to have knowingly scheduled it for spring break? At best it is very poor planning, and it is somewhat reasonable to at least wonder how that happened. |
