I am an engineer working in IT. When I am a full time employee at any company, the max pay raise I get is 3-3.5%. I work my ass off, am always available to solve issues, work very hard so that nobody has any complaints against me. Yet, I get a miserable pay raise. This year I got 2.8%. I am really sick and tired of these pathetic raises especially when things are becoming so expensive around.
How are others in full time jobs doing? I am not asking about lawyers and doctors. I am asking about regular professionals. |
| As a fed I mostly just got COLAs that were usually not really enough to cover my health insurance premium increase |
| As a senior manager, I get a 2% raise. Of course the Directors, VPs and above get massive annual bonuses, but I get nothing. I would never recommend my employer, a growing government contractor owned by PE. |
| 1-2% and no bonuses. |
| 1% as a fed and had to switch to a new health plan becuase of skyrocketing premiums. Yay. |
|
I only get 3 percent raise or so a year. My rent got raised 10 percent which is insane so time to move.
|
| The only way to get a big increase, is to change companies |
| 2-3%. For me it’s always been that way. The only way to get a large increase is to jump companies. If you get a promotion you’ll get more than you currently make but won’t be offered as much as they would pay an outsider coming in. |
| DH hasn’t had a raise since 2019. First they blamed COVID. Then a slew of other things. It’s basically the equivalent of a pay cut year over year as COL has increased. With the crazy inflation this past year, it’s becoming a real challenge. But at least he has a job. Some people don’t even have that. |

I am glad to know I am not alone in this. Very grateful to have a job but finding it hard to stay motivated.
OP |
| That’s considered good. Many people get zero raises sadly. |
| I’m a teacher and the largest increase I’ve ever gotten was 5% but that was after many, many, many years of zero increase. |
| No raises at our not for profit this year. Usially 2-3% |
| I just got 4.5% at my company this year.... I know I'm lucky. |
This! I am 42 and in my current job (GS-15) I will make a little less money every year until I retire. Thanks, Congress! |
