Was there or was there not a certain stock that was being pumped ceaselessly during 2016-2020 with all the comments basically like “to the moooon !!!!” And people posting how much they continued to buy as the price decreased. I feel like it was a Trump-related stock ?
My partner thinks that was happening to a lot of stocks and maybe always has been “pump and dump” and not any particular one around the time. I swear I could remember it was something as recognizable to the masses as “GameStop” and there was a whole forum dedicated to relentlessly accumulating stock and encouraging others to do so even when it was by any definition completely cratering. Towards the end there were lots of posts about people who had put their whole savings into it, kids college funds (ok) retirement etc. How might I be mis-remembering this ? |
| GameStop or AMC theaters come to mind. |
| GameStop and AMC were pumped during COVID...so it was late 2020 and early 2021. |

i think you are thinking of the ticker DJT, for the company that owns truth social
high of $92 in early 2022, now sitting around $10. |
| Meme stocks (mostly gamestop) and r/wallstreetbets |
My first thought was Truth Social as well. |
I think this might be the one as well. I'm not on the sub anymore but I remember checking in on it a few times a week. And the ticker numbers you reference roughly jibe with my memory. It still could have been something else? But I think you're right on the mark. Wish I could remember the name of the sub. Reddit stopped feeding me so many subs in the last few years. then when my last 2 accounts got banned I lost lots of threads and preferences. I don't even care so much that my reddit accounts got banned. I can travel freely now. Want to see my social media accounts? They don't exist. You can't even pull up my old user names. |
