MS Magnet Consortium + Criteria Programs 2nd Round

Any idea when the 2nd round offers for MS Magnets will go out? Does it usually take this long between rounds?

I believed they will wait until all appeals are settled. So probably soon I guess?

This is taking too long. We have decisions to make. Does anyone have intel on when the 2nd offers will be made?

Three years ago my daughter was notified at the beginning of June. Not sure it is the 2nd, 3rd or the 4th round though...

There can be movement even at the beginning if the school year, as with most programs. I know someone who was finally accepted and able to enroll at the start of the school year. Just fyi for your planning.

Taylor said they aren’t changing anything at the MS level until MSDE finalized their new math requirement for 60 minutes/day in grades k-8

My guess is that they will try to figure out MS and ES programs sometime during the 2027 calendar year so it can feed into the boundary decisions that will be finalized in spring 2028. Not sure if they will wait to implement those changes until fall 2029 when the boundaries change or if they will change the programs sooner.

Immediately before the vote on 3/26/26, Taylor said the regional program construct was for secondary schools, ie, for high school AND middle schools. So that new system for middle school programs has been approved. As to when that will be implemented, I don't know that a date has been set. However, the middle school programs will all go regional.
