Gifting a car TX to MD and shipping it

Anonymous
Parents in TX are gifting a car to us, we live in MD. Plan is to ship it from their house to our house. Has anybody done this? Pitfalls? A good website with all the steps we need to do? I've never bought a car privately or received one as a gift.

You will have to pay excise tax on it.

Take the title and bill of sale - zero/gift in your case to MVA.

We use him often. He’s a broker but it’s never been an issue with their contractors. I would estimate $1000

I've also shipped a car and this is about right. You will have to pay taxes on it in maryland.

When I transfered from DC to MD they gave me credit for the taxes I paid to DC.
