I have a cyst in my neck that my dermatologist claims she can't remove and that I need to go to a plastic surgeon for. If I go this route is there even a possibility of it being covered by insurance?
The one plastic surgeon she recommended wants to charge a $150 consultation fee (does not apply to the actual removal) and either $600 to drain or $1200 to excise. Seems like a lot only to not be able to cover it with insurance. |
| I'd see a different derm. |
| Go to a better derm. |
| My derm has told me the same thing- the cyst is on my back. I haven’t gone to a plastic surgeon for a consult yet. |
| I had a cyst drained from the bottom of my chin. It took a few seconds. Why would derm not do that if draining is an option? |
| I would go to a plastic surgeon for anything in a visible body part. Especially my face! And I would not care if it was out of pocket. Some things are worth paying for a job well done. |
They might not want to mess the neck area. My derm wouldn't do anything to the one by my knee because it might have involved the joint. I went to a regular surgeon for removal. My guess is the neck is more specialized. |
It's not on my face. |
