DS is planning to start taking Metro home from school (from DC to VA) some days due to a change in my work location so I can no longer drive him some days. He can take it right after school (board at about 3:45 PM), or do study hall and take it as late as about 5:30 PM. He'd prefer it not to be like sardines. Understanding it just will be like that sometimes on the orange line, does anyone know whether crowds tend to lighten or worsen after 5PM?
Rush hour.
I think 5:30 is fine for crowding now post-pandemic and the crowd is going to be fairly safe adults who could help him if something got uncomfortable, vs right after school when it's a more eclectic mix.
3:45 will be less crowded than 5:30 but it’s not a huge difference. A lot of people leave work and commute home between 4-6.
I see a lot of Gonzaga kids taking the Metro home from DC on the Orange/Silver lines. And you can't ever predict crowds; some days when you think it would be crowded, crickets. And other days, standing room only.
Not the same crowds since Covid
