| BA boys U13 ID sessions start this week. Will interest be lower now that Coppermine has MLS Next HG? Pipeline has the top 2014 boys team. Will Pipeline boys stay there or look to the two local MLS Next teams for U13? BSC 2014 teams do not seem as strong. Will 2014 MoCo boys head north for ID sessions? |

So-called top team designations at especially young age groups is pretty funny Top of what and how |
. Lol +1 |

BA seem to be doing fine with SAC kids and guest players.
Can’t imagine many will take that hour drive north in rush hour from Bethesda even with CM running people away. I do agree fewer may head south from Baltimore suburbs. If history holds they’ll pick up some fast developers from smaller clubs If you look at the top 5 Maryland 2014 teams (pipeline, Celtic, Coppermine, BA/sac, Potomac), they are already talent dense enough to be surprisingly competitive regionally with deep enough rosters to be playing 11v11. Outside of union / Delco / Richmond / syc it’s a bigger drop off in pa/va. I think the real question is not Coppermine or a few b team kids in DC going to ppa/dc soccer mls ad. It’s will the age shift at the same time teams go to bigger u13 rosters change the landscape. Will kids parents accept offers to shuffle their late 2013 kids out of mls ad to ecnl, or stick with the MLS hype. How many Jan 2014 chase a mls HG. File this under Questions no one will remember in 5 years. |
Lol so true!! I do wonder how the age change and the variation between HG (calendar year) and everything else being school year will play out. If someone is a late 2014 bday, they could find themselves on one of the HG teams, or on a second team playing 9v9, presumably as a total stud. That's a huge delta and it would be hard to bridge that gap. It's becoming increasingly clear that AD is just a way to extract more money from second-tier teams, and is not a pathway to anything. SAC doesn't even let their AD team wear academy uniforms. Now you have clubs like PPA getting it. And I'm sure next year there will be more. |
Armour 2014 boys will be getting a new coach for U13. He is the current BA 2012 and BA 2010 coach. If people know and like the new coach that could be a draw for the ID sessions. |
Would 'B' team kids be playing elsewhere for free if not on an AD team? |
|
I doubt any large amount of AD kids are free, unless AD is a top team. probably a few on needs based discounts, which is good if it is used to provide more opportunities
I think the PP was pointing out that most mls clubs with AD as a second team can and do charge higher fees for the year vs. a club who’s top team is in high level EDP/NL/DPL while the coaching and cost basis are similar |
I am the PP and yes, that is what I'm pointing out. For the kids who get on the AD team at SAC, they will pay about $500 more than kids on other travel teams at the club or teams at a club that doesn't have MLS next AD. |
He will start with a major boost simply by not being the terrible coach they used to have. |
| Who went last night? How was it? |
| Stay away from this club. We can’t wait for this season to be over and leaving. Extremely abusive Coach. Consistently degrades the non starters since beginning of the season. No matter what you do, he won’t play you as a new player. 11 specific boys and their families have a strong hold although team has 21 QUALITY players that he hand picked and scouted. He just wants bodies on the bench |

We left a super competitive top team with no pathway for an AD team. It’s the best thing we ever did. The coaches phenomenal, the players are amazing and they’re extremely competitive and ambitious, but not toxic and negative. Our club is personally pulling up six kids from our team to consistently train and play with the HD team and seems to keep a good mix of in club and outside kids every year. I know people talk a lot of smack about our club, but now that we’re in it, we can see that all places have issues and this is a wonderful club with the best coaches around if you get lucky like we did. It’s not about AD, EDP, HD or more- it’s what is a fit for your child!!! Keep it focused on THE KIDS.
And to the previous poster who commented about BA, what you described about the coaching and the benchwarmers is absolutely atrocious. Run as fast as you can!!! |
I agree with this general notion. But I’m a little confused. You were on a first team and then you moved to a second team at another club that was an AD team? And that club is not SAC/BA? At first it sounded like you were talking about joining SAC/BA. But I guess not. And now some players from your team train and play with the HG team? Isn’t that stressful? Or are the other kids on the AD team that don’t get pulled up not bothered? |
