Sleep training puppy?

Our nine month old has started having barking fits early in the morning. I know he can wait longer to go to the bathroom — he just wants someone to come hang out with him at 5 in the morning. We’ve tried letting him sleep outside crate and also tried letting him come up to our room but neither improved it. He was much better at 4 months but at 9 months he’s figured out that if he keeps barking someone will come. With kids if you just let them cry they eventually learned—buut it seems like he will bark forever! Any suggestions? We have an older dog as well, so it’s not llle he’s alone.

Sounds like you need to be consistent. He stays in the crate until you arrive. Crate should be in a quiet place. Cover it and make sure the curtains or blinds are closed.

That's what we were doing but his persistence was outlasting ours. With my kids, I feel like 3 days letting them cry it out in the crib was enough, but we went a week plus with him barking incessantly for an hour plus and it was driving us all crazy. He seemed to do a little better with being out of the crate so he could move to new spot, check in with his canine brother, etc. But if he hears anyone outside (garbage collector, neighbor, etc.) or anyone upstairs using the bathroom, he's up and barking like mad. If I go down and tell him to hush, he'll usually quiet down, but by then the damage is done and everyone is awake.

If he’s not super tiny you can attach toys to the crate so he has an activity when he wakes up.
