Madeira vs episcopal high school

We are considering these two schools. Our family is debating on the desicion.
About academic, school management, students support, do you have any suggestions?
We pay attention on the academic support and social environment. I heard that EHS has strong curriculum and also interested in the internship opportunities in madeira. Hard to decide.

Unless you want coed, Madeira is the superior choice. The internship opportunities and the college seminar classroom environment have been phenomenal for my daughter. Plus, the kids are actually supportive of one another.

DS attended EHS and DD Madeira. Different choices. What I will say is I found Madeira academics to have much more rigor and the students to be more academic minded.

I’m assuming she’d also be boarding at Madeira? If not, that’s a differentiator, as well as co-ed vs all-girls.

Could the PP with kids at both schools explain how the social life is different? I’m a different poster also considering both schools (but DD would be a day student at Madeira).

If madeira we prefer day students.

Thank you. I heard that EHS has strong academic. Is it true?

Does EHS still have a reputation for partying and drug use? If so, that would be a huge determining factor for my family, regardless of academic rigor. I know it was a major problem there even just a few years ago.

I heard about it but I learned that the student was out. Don't know current alcohol and drugs management in the school and want to know more information from parents

EHS has a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol; you are kicked out if you have on campus or return to campus after having used.

Who is “we”? Are you claiming Madeira prefers day students? That is patently untrue.

sorry for the confusion. I mean I will choose day school for my kids if I choose Madeira but my kids have to be boarders if we choose EHS. To be honest, I think they are not very mature to be boarders

That’s an important consideration then. Boarding is a very different experience and not a good fit for every kid.

I chose between these two years ago and chose EHS. It was definitely the wrong choice for me, in large part because I probably wasn't ready for boarding, and in large part because EHS was just a tough social environment back then. The kids on the visit at EHS made fun of the Madeira girls, saying they were all weirdos in addition to a bunch of homophobic things. I let it scare me away from Madeira, but it should have scared me away from EHS. This is probably of limited relevance decades later, but if she's not ready for boarding, that's your answer. If she is, she should really follow her gut after admitted student days. They had very different feels back then and probably still do.
