Saks closing

I’m so sad these stores are closing. I don’t buy much there because the clothes are expensive but I still liked to go in. Now there will be big holes in Chevy Chase and at the Tysons Galleria Mall. Do you think Neiman Marcus at Tysons Galleria will also close? That will really hurt that mall.

I’m very sorry to hear this. I’ve been shopping at the Chevy Chase store since I was a little kid, being dragged there by my Mom. It feels like the end of an era. I got some of my best “grown up” clothes there when I was first putting together a professional wardrobe, and, over the years, I’ve had positive relationships with several personal shoppers and sales associates. At the same time, Saks went from carrying quite a lot of things that I genuinely wanted to buy to: not so much, so I get why they’re closing.

I remember when the Chevy Chase department stores had special sales and staggered early opening hours on December 26th — and some of us dedicated shoppers would go from Saks to Neiman Marcus to Lord & Taylor’s to Woodies, and double back to stop at Saks Jandel. The good old days. Now all of those stores will be gone. I’ll miss them.

Yikes. We pay to park in the Chevy Chase lot when we have doctor visits or endoscopies across the street. Now they will build on that lot.

Yes, the Saks store has large parking lots on either side and a smaller lot connecting them. It’s quite a lot of land.

I hope they put in a European style department store with a fine foods grocer and a restaurant.

It would also be great if the Equinox gym could move to that space and offer more spa services.

I got one of my first professional blouses at the saks in Chevy Chase in 1992. I’m sad that it will be closing but more sad that the parking lot will be lost and I’ll have to deal with that nightmare doctor’s office parking lot across the street.
If you’ve been in saks or Neiman Marcus in Tyson’s I’m not surprised that they will close. Whenever I go in there it looks like they will be robbed of their gaudy merch any second.

The parent company is bankrupt. They've been liquidating. Yes, it's gone.

I always thought that Bloomingdales should be in the Galleria, so maybe that will move? And then someplace like a Belk could move into Tysons Corner?

Goodness, I still remember shopping there in the mid aughts. Mike D. was so lovely and genuinely helpful when I was a green young professional.
