Best fertilizer for flowers

| Gardening newbie here. I have hellebores and wondering if there is any recommendation for a good fertilizer or plant food to help with flowering plants? Thx! |

| Fertilizer is good but also build up the soil with amendments. I apply generous amounts of Leafgro and manure to supplement homemade compost every spring. I have a lot of plants so I use a 10-10-10 as a general purpose fertilizer. With flowers less is more. Too much nitrogen and you’ll get more leaves than blooms. |

| I shred the leaves that fall on my property and also purchase worm castings. I tried and failed at worm farming. I also compost and use that as well as crushed alfalfa. I spray leaves with liquid kelp on occasion. |

| We just shred leaves in fall and apply to all the beds. Our helebores do great and even reseed and spread. We've never used commerical fertilizer on them. |
