Feedback on RCF ES

I am interested in a regular program, not Spanish immersion, my child would be entering 1st grade.

The principal is a bit of a b/tch but an improvement over the old one.

Woah. That’s such an hateful response. We love RCF. Every teacher our kids have had are warm and welcoming. The families are awesome. Super active PTA. Great in-school field trips and fun school events. The current admin has definitely made some changes that, in my opinion, make the vibe not as great as when the beloved (by most families and staff) former principal and assistant principal were there. The school has seen a lot of teacher turnover with the new admin; however,
it’s still a really great school.

You might try asking on Reddit. If there are not many families from that ES on this Board it’s probably a good thing

I loved RCF under the old administration and when class sizes were small for younger grades. I think the school is fine now. I love this neighborhood and the school community is active.

That school is located near five places of worship. A Catholic church, Methodist, two Jewish -- a temple and synoguague. and a Baptist which is not actually in the area zoned for that elementary school but close by. Fyi for anyone looking for schools. The Spanish immersion housed at that school in that neighborhood. Some Spanish immersion students travel from as far as Germantown and Burtonsville.

* The Spanish program housed at that ES is primarily made up of students not in that neighborhood.

Yes RCF has both the neighborhood “English Academy” and Spanish Immersion programs. SI is amazing and families lottery in from all over the county - including from the neighborhood. The school is great.

I have seen such things on the Montgomery County subreddit. Not all the time but occasionally

The new AP is terrible. My daughter says that she is never around and when you see her she is on her phone. We went to several events of the school and the only administrador you can see was the Principal.
The PTA is run by the parents in the immersion side and they only advocate for the Spanish immersion kids not the English/neighborhood kids . RCF is a great place my daughter loves her school and we do too

The principal is a problem.

Yea the English program at RCF is not good. The principal is definitely a problem. The majority of people who have enough resources in the neighborhood send their kids to private so you're left with not a great cohort to be full honest. I'd rate it as a 4 or 5/10. Most people think this btw they're just embarrassed because the zip is Chevy chase and they paid a lot for their houses and don't want to admit it was a waste.
