Northwaters & Langskib (ages 10–17) — Arlington open house Mar 8

Anonymous
Hi parents — I wanted to pass along a summer opportunity that had a huge impact on me growing up and has been equally meaningful for our family now: Northwaters & Langskib (Ontario, Canada) https://northwaters.org

I attended for several years as a kid, and our son goes now. What makes it special: kids spend 10–20 days in the backcountry learning practical outdoor competence (paddling, camping, route planning), plus the “bigger” skills—teamwork, resilience, confidence, and leadership. It’s a real reset from the usual routine and screens, and it tends to stick with them.

They’re hosting an in-person Open House in Arlington on Sunday, March 8 at 4:00pm (short slideshow + time to connect and ask questions). Info/RSVP: canoe@northwaters.com. https://northwaters.org/open-houses/ Programs are for ages 10–17, with 2-week and 3.5-week options (single-gender and mixed-gender), and they offer robust need- and merit-based scholarships.

If you’re on the fence and want a parent’s perspective, feel free to reply.

What's a "merit-based scholarship" for camp?
