| Without any hooks and legacy, what do you think tipped the scales in your DD’s favor? DD will be applying next year and looking to hear from others experiences to decipher if she has a shot at acceptance without any of these advantages. |
My DD is in 10th. A few girls came from Deal and Latin and were extremely strong students especially in math. |
| Top student, near top HSPT, some non-sport accolades , and probably pretty great recommendations. |
| These responses are helpful—thank you! How did your DD’s manage the academic rigor coming from public once they were at Visi? |
Both of my daughters moved from FCPS to Visi, and there was certainly an adjustment period due to the noticeably heavier workload. They had to adapt to doing homework almost every day and figure out how to manage their time, especially while playing sports. |
| Are the sports teams really difficult to make there? |
Almost universally yes. About 500 girls with lots of good club players in lacrosse, soccer, basketball. |
It's true that many sports are highly competitive and difficult to make. However, there are some no-cut options, such as cross country and track, which allow anyone interested to participate. |
