"Children’s National Hospital is reporting a growing number of young patients some as young as 11 seeking treatment for cannabis use and addiction. Dr. Siva Kaliamurthy, who leads the hospital’s addiction program, says cases have shifted in recent years. While fentanyl once drove most visits after the clinic opened in 2022, cannabis-related cases are now increasing as fentanyl cases decline.
Doctors point to significantly stronger cannabis products as a key factor. THC levels that once ranged from 1% to 5% now commonly reach 20% to 25%, with some vape products as high as 70%, raising risks for developing brains."

Probably because more households now recreationally consume cannabis products. We're on the West Coast and had several cannabis shops open nearby within the last 10 years as it became legal, and it always surprises me that the parking lots are completely full every time I drive by.

ER doc. This is the result of the “legalize it” movement (which I once supported) and the cultural acceptance of weed as no big deal, which it wasn’t until THC concentrations hit 40% (were 3-4% in the good old 90’s). This shit’s no good, keep your kids (esp your teen boys) off the weed and the couch. And yes you middle aged folks who like your gummies, I see you and no one’s coming for your stuff. Kids with developing frontal lobes are different and there’s a reason we’re seeing them “scromiting” in the ER, not us old folks.

I agree. I voted to legalize so that really sick people could get pain relief.

Since that time it's become a competitor to the bar industry, there are dispensaries and delivery places everywhere, and it's incredibly easy for school kids to get because kids can get it from pothead parents and older friends.

It's pretty disgusting.
