Tax-Loss Harvesting

Does anyone have a wealth management group they work with to do this? Not interested in debating the practice itself - just looking for a referral

Do you not already have a wealth manager? Anyone can do this if you have losses to offset gains.

Ok so thanks this is what I was avoiding. Yes we have a wealth manager. Yes I understand this.

I’m looking for a group that does this more proactively. Not just offsetting loses/gains.

If you have a specific group you like, you will know what I’m talking about.

Nope but following because we need this. I know some groups that do it proactively for UHNW but haven’t found anyone who will work with people under that. OP if you’re UHNW (liquid or illiquid) I have a couple recs from friends.

Fidelity offers this service. You pay a 0.3 fee. I am not sure there is a minimum, but you don’t need to be uhnw.

Betterment can handle it, too.

This is an idiotic question. Why do you need an adviser to take capital losses?

Of course you aren't, lol.

Careful. People do go to prison ...

They don't.

They need one to manufacture fake ones in a way that isn't likely to end up with everyone in prison. Someone like Paul Daugerdas or Raymond Ruble or John Larson who can create cutting edge financial strategies that will ... oh ... wait...

Goldman Sachs TACS - https://olui2.fs.ml.com/MLIAP/MLIAPViewDynamicPDF.aspx?IC=1026309&PC=FMDN&CC=MER&DT=ManagerProfileColorPDF

I paid much less in taxes this year with this offset. Worth looking into - ask your advisor.

By how much did they reduce your effective tax rate, do you know? The return itself of this managed product is not worth it (after all fees only 0.5% above index they "style")

Tell me you don’t know what you’re talking about without telling me you don’t know what you’re talking about…

Wealthfront can do this automatically if you invest with them.

Are you already using a wealth manager? Any decent one will do this, but if you're investing in mostly index funds it doesn't matter a much since you're not realizing gains or losses. If you're looking for a more active strategy then use any name brand weath management firm.
