"Some of the programs housed on the Ashburn campus include nursing, engineering, physics and chemistry. There are also research labs and administrative buildings. A portion of the sales’ proceeds will be used to make an endowment. ----- There’s also a proposal to use some of the funds toward a one-time bonuses to eligible staff." Which staff are getting this one time bonus? How healthy is GW's $? |
| Wow. They must be hurting for $$. |
| GW has a ton of money - second largest land owner in DC. The Ashburn program was under-enrolled and, more importantly, the value of that land has exploded in the last few years. This is a shrewd play. |
| I believe they have 5 years to relocate so it’s more of a property sale, not ending the academic programs |
| Specifically, $2.9B in endowment + $2.1B in real estate + other investments = $5.2B in assets. |
Will they bring those in-demand stem programs (nursing, chem, etc.) to DC or another GW location? |
| And BTW..they sold the Ashburn campus to Amazon Data Services for nearly $500M. |
| Sold to Amazon for a Data Center. SHAMEFUL! |
Is that why that article said details not released something or another re: buyer confidentiality? |
| Didn't Amazon partner with a university (Virginia Tech) when opening the Amazon campus in Arlington? Is Amazon going to partner with GW too? |
| I don’t think so - they bought it to build….guess….wait for it….a data center. |
Ashburn and data csnters?.No! |

Regular benefits-eligible FT and PT staff. |
Yes, that's the plan. |
