Preschool Aide

Anonymous
Hello Everyone,

My son’s preschool is requesting that we find him an aide to shadow him in class. Does anyone have any recommendations ? Thank you!

What? They are asking for you to staff up on their behalf? How does this work with the other kids at the preschool/liability for the school/etc?

Yes. I dont know, but more focused on trying to keep my son in school than worry about their legal issues!

Find a new preschool and address the issues why.

It's not that unusual. But you'll find better answers in the Special Needs forum.

I'd try Care.com.

I would try the special needs forum. This happens at our preschool occasionally. I think the school splits the cost of the aid with the family.

If your child needs this level of support you'd be better off in a special education preschool program at your local public school. There you would receive care from a range of highly trained professionals for free and would t have to hire yourself.

I should have mentioned in the first post that he is only 2.5.

You need to post this over on special needs. Is your receiving infant and child services?

Is this daycare or preschool? Post in special needs forum. This school is not meeting his needs, and he may or may not be successful with an aide.

He will be eligible for an IEP at age three if he has a qualifying disability. Which he probably does if he needs this much support this young.

No need to wait till age 3. You can contact your county early intervention services right away.
