Has the psych sheet been sent to any clubs? I know it is too early for heats, but wanted to look at the numbers. I am still trying to figure out how finals are going to be run with A, B, C, D, E, and F. That seems like a really long night. Do they have a plan to make it faster? Will the meet be sterile like the 14&U Champs? Or will they have music and walk outs? |

In my many years of champs meets for PVS, I do not remember walk-out music being played and frankly, that would just make it longer.
Entries were due last Tuesday so pysch sheet should be out soon |
Not if they play it as they are walking up, but yea, I get it. Really too bad that they don't do it at these meets. |
| Yes, it has been sent to clubs. Mako has it posted on their website. |
I mean last year they had 3 finals for both junior and senior champs in every event (so 6 total) and this year it’s only F finals for 100d and 50s, E finals for 200s, and C finals for 400 IM and 500 free so it’s actually going to be significantly shorter finals than in years past. |
Can someone better at mathing, math for me. So there are 6 finals heats this year (48?) where last year it was 96??? but some events less? I am so confused. |
+1, there should be no differences in the length of the finals session. I looked at the 200 free as an example and if you combine the junior/senior entries for the men and women from last year there are roughly the same number of female swimmers and male swimmers entered this year (a few more women and a few less men), so I don’t think prelims should be that much longer either. |
Last year there were 3 heats of finals for junior champs events and 3 heats of finals for senior champs events. So 6 total heats between the 2, which is the same number of heats at finals that there will be this year now that Junior and Senior champs have been combined into Open champs. The exceptions are the events that are 200 or longer. The 200s will only have 5 heats of finals, and the 4IM and 500 free will only have 3 heats of finals. The 1000 and 1650 free are timed finals. |
| Think if you're over 16, you can only get in the A-C finals. |
Really? That doesn't seem fair for girls that venido not get much faster. |
I think it’s trying to account for the fact that they eliminated the completely separate finals for the swimmers that weren’t fast enough to make Senior champs. To your point though, there are a handful of 14 year old girls that are doing Open champs instead of AG champs and some will easily make the A-C finals. There will also be 13-14 year old girls at AG champs who easily could have made the A-C finals at Open champs if they had chosen that route. |
| There is walkout music at 14 & U champs. The audio at UMD is awful so you can’t really hear it, but they do allow the 1st seed at finals to pick their walkout music |
This was done by the meet hosts. Both NCAP and Machine stepped down from hosting these meets. |
The hosts for these meets (PAC and TOLL) seem a little random, given that they don’t have a lot of swimmers at the meets. I’m guessing they offered to host to try and make some money. There is now an admissions fee, a portion of which goes to the hosts. We will see how much of a disaster the volunteer process is. |
The SUG is out and I love how they portioned it by team participants. Forces every team to contribute. There seems to be a lot of sign ups already but the teams are going to have to push. The tough one is ALWAYS finals. They struggle with getting volunteers. |
