43F, overweight and on BC

Anonymous
I am on BC because my bleeding wasn't stopping and I am quite overweight. It has stopped my bleeding but I am more cranky, irritated and anxious lately. Is it one of the side effects of BC? I don't want to be like this and would rather go off the BC.

Do you suffer from adenomyosis perhaps ?

I'd try a DIU if I were you.

Well yeah. Hormonal birth control causes major depression for me and probably many other women.

These were common side effects of BC for me. I did best with non systemic forms. If I were you I might try Mirena iud and see if I. Oils tolerate that one better.

Did your provider discuss a Mirena IUD?

Anonymous
I didn’t have the bleeding or overweight issues but BC made me an angry depressed mess.

Completely improved when I moved to Mirena IUD.

You need to stop the BCP and get on a GLP for starters.

I had heavy periods and my gyn suggested a Mirena IUD. I should have done that ten years prior: zero periods, ever. Now I am a lucky minority as many women still do have bleeding, but it usually lessens it. For weight (not related to Mirena for me, I was gaining steadily over years) tirzepatide solved the problem very easily.

Talk to your doctor. The BCP I was on post-partum made me angry and snappish. Changed to a different brand and was back to myself.

I now have an IUD (Liletta) and love it. Nothing to remember, no period, no PMS, no mood swings, no weight gain.

Have you given it 3 months? That's how long to adjust.

Op here. Yes, it has been around 9 months and I take it every day.

I am on GLP as well but the mood swings/rage after BC is of the next level. I tried IUD in the past and it never sticks around and falls off.

There are a few issues here and I think it would be better for you to stock with BC if it is controlling your bleeding.

BC does not fix whatever problem was causing the bleeding. It just lets your provider off the hook from finding what’s wrong.

I’m on Slynd. It’s good for mood. Add an estrogen patch and done!
