Anyone get a flu shot for their 6 month old baby?

I am FTM of 6 month old who has her 6 month doc visit this week. Will they even offer me flu vax for her? If so should I get it for her? Am concerned as I had mine last week and had terrible reaction to it (fever, chills for 2 days). Interested in people's thoughts - thanks!!

I got a flu shot for DD at her six month visit a couple of weeks ago. They also gave me mine then too. She has to go back for a second shot (a month from the first one).

I would do it. I would be more afraid of dealing with a sick baby than any remote risk from the vaccine. She didn't have any reaction, not even a fever, but she did get a little welt on her leg from having a bunch of shots (who knows which one or if it was the combo) but it went away within a few days and didn't seem to bother her.

Mine was just turning 7 months when he got his two flu shots. I'd never had one myself, had never had the flu, but my son had been hospitalized at 5 months with croup because he couldn't breathe well. So I figured lungs were a weak point of his. I got him the vax, and got it for me as well.

Neither of us had reactions, so I know that doesn't help you much when deciding, because everyone is different. Because of all the vaccine controversies going on when my son was born, I had decided that I'd go with the regular vax schedule unless he had a reaction to anything, and then I'd stop and reassess. But he never did.

I'd just make sure the flu shot was thimerosal free (pretty easy to find for kids). My son has been hospitalized several times now with breathing issues due to upper respiratory infections, and it's no picnic at all. For that reason alone, I'm in the pro flu-shot camp.

For all those interested OP here. I did get her the flu vax along with the regular 6 month vaxs. She was fussy that afternoon and evening and just fine after that.
