SoHo House NYC?

Anonymous
I need a place to regularly meet business contacts and trying to find a place to meet is a headache. Anyone have a member here? Do you like it?

I think it is fine. It was a fancy, exclusive place but that was a while ago. I now know people who go there who are not particularly impressive - social climbers.

But if you are looking for something in that part of town I think it is fine.

I know there are plenty of similar places but I can't speak well to them and don't want to guess. Obviously there are Harvard Club, Yale Club, NYAC (though I'm not a huge fan), Harmonie, Metropolitan, many others.

Were you a member of SoHo House and/or do you go there regularly?

I’m not looking for an ‘elite’ place. I just need a place to meet professional contacts for drinks that is an easy, go to place. I work in media and people seem to meet up there so I figured I might look into it. But the vibe has always seemed a bit cheesy to me.

Nah. It’s tired. Just find some hotel bars that work for you and your expense account.

Which ones? I need an easy home base for client related drinks

Where is your office? Michael's on W 55th Street has long been a media hangout. The St. Regis on E 55th Street.

Is this for mornings/afternoons or evenings? If earlier in the day, I take clients to the Feana hotel restaurant all the time, there are always reservations available and they open at 7am.

Ned's has a location in DC too if that would be helpful.

What general neighborhood?

I used to regularly meet a member there when we worked on a project. This was eons ago. What was nice is that there were a lot of high profile people there and it was a safe place where people would leave them alone. I always enjoyed "hot cocoa hour" which was a thing at the time.

Michaels is more of a reservation type place. Lunch or dinner.

The king Cole bar is nice but stuffy

I’d prefer more downtown too.

Different times. I just want a place to not have to think about too much. This is a good lead ty

It really doesn’t matter as long as it’s Manhattan or close Brooklyn (SoHo house dumbo would work)

I've been to Dumbo House not too long ago. Nice space. It is a bit out of the way - all the way down the hill from the subway. I only saw a small part of it. Seemed fine.

Looks like they’re expanding and moving into flatiron.

I’d prefer that location.
