What are you getting or got them for their 18th other than a car or money?
Really need ideas … thanks!

A photo album? A letter? Something else personal. Otherwise, just give money.

A small toolkit is useful for college, maybe you could use that as a metaphor in a letter.

My gift to him will be that I no longer harp on him since he is a legal adult! I hope I can keep my own promise.
I am also planning to leave him alone for long stretches of time, I bet he’ll love it (unless he goes away to college).

Tickets to a sporting event.

Tickets to a Broadway show and a session of improv classes per his request. Surely your son has interests that you can find personalized gifts for. If not - Amazon gift card.

Me too, but that’s not a nice watch.

How about a nice Datejust?

That’s cringe

Get him a patek.

You never own a patek, you just look after it for the next generation

A classy calatrava that he can wear for the most special of occasions and then pass on to his children.

Is he going to college in the fall? Are there things he'll need? XL sheets? Gas cards if he's taking a car with him? Suitcases if he'll be flying back and forth? Small tool kit or first aid kit?

Want to share a unique, fun idea to gift someone that we recently did:

Lawless Forge in Sterling, VA https://lawlessforge.com/sterling

We took a class and created/forged chopsticks although there are other class options to make other things. It was so different and so much fun! A great experience. And the folks who run the classes were so nice and encouraging. A gift certificate to a class here is now my new go-to gift for young adults. I guess I could gift it to anyone but so far that is who I have given this to.

I like to give memories for milestone birthdays. I took my firstborn to an NFL game at the home stadium of his favorite team.
